We’re starting to get into the holiday season and that usually means big sales.

But how do you make sure that you’re getting the best deal? There’s a website called Camel Camel Camel ( that will watch the prices of items on Amazon. After you set up a free account, you can set it to notify you via email or Twitter once the price reaches a certain amount. You can also look at the history of prices of many products.

My husband uses this when he’s buying any large item from Amazon. It’s amazing how much the price of items vary in a given month. And since Cyber Monday is around the corner, this could start filling up your inbox if you’re not careful!

The ShopSavvy app allows you to scan bar codes in stores and compare the prices to both local retailers and online retailers. It also allows you to set sale alerts so that the app tells you when there is a deal or price change on a given item. You can even use the app to look at sales and deals for hundreds of retailers. They also have a website ( that has all of the sales — including those coming up in a few days — on it.

Another great app is the RedLaser Barcode & QR Code Scanner. Like ShopSavvy, it will search both local and on-line retailers when you scan a barcode or QR code from a given item. It will also give you coupons to use to save money on these items. One perk of this app is that, if it finds a better deal online, you can actually purchase the item directly from the app instead of having to go to a different site.

The app will also give suggestions for comparable items to the one that you originally searched. Finally, the app will actually give you product ratings, nutrition facts and critical allergen information when you scan any food item.

No one has time these days to continuously watch prices online, go back and forth to stores or even just check weekly ads. These apps will take that load off of you this holiday season. The only thing these apps and websites won’t do for you is help you find the “right” gift for the picky family member that has everything!

Happy shopping!
