Hey, moms and dads of little ones: The time to enroll your tykes for kindergarten and first grade is almost here.

Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2016 must enroll in public or private kindergarten, unless the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver. Any child who will be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2016 must enroll in first grade. Visit your Greenville County public school Jan. 11-14 to register.

To enroll a new student in kindergarten or first grade, a parent must present the following at registration:

  • State-issued Birth Certificate
  • Properly Completed Immunization Certificate or Religious Exemption Certificate
  • Two Forms of Proof of Residence (two documents required such as a current utility bill or copy of lease agreement)

Greenville County Schools is seeking bus drivers, bus aides, custodians and food service operators.

The district will hold its first job fair of 2016 5-7 p.m. Jan. 12 at Lifelong Learning at Sullivan Center, located at 206 Wilkins Street in Greenville. These are full-time positions with health and dental benefits, retirement pension, sick leave and free life insurance for employees who work 30 or more hours per week.
