2022 is the time to finally chase those dreams we’ve been putting on hold

Y’all. We’re getting ready for a brand-spanking-new year. 2022 is coming in at lightning speed. We’ve been dealing with Covid for two years. We’ve lost time, experiences, and people we love. And I say it’s time to finally chase those dreams we’ve been putting on hold.

That dream that’s been living rent-free in the back of your mind for the past 5 or 10 years? That’s the thing to go do, and this coming year is your year to make it happen. Why? Tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us and we’re about to embark on a brand new time filled with possibilities and opportunities. The best gift you can give yourself is the gift of getting it done.

I’m encouraging you to go and do in 2022. Whether it’s a vacation, business venture, or something else that was put on hold because of a pandemic, it’s time to bring that plan back. You’ve got a month to figure it out before the NYE ball drops. Use this time to book the trip you’ve always wanted to go on. Get the Lasik or Botox or liposuction that will make you feel good about yourself. Get married to the love of your life. Find that long-lost brother or aunt or childhood best friend. Write the book, be it a cookbook, a novel, or a memoir.

As for me? I want to write more. I want to work more. My kids are getting older and their autonomy means it’s my time to shine as an adult. I want to go to amazing places and see amazing things. I want to fall in love with my husband again. I want to open my arms to the world on the top of a mountain (OK, maybe a big hill) and shout, “Here I am, New Year! I’m living the dream!”

You know that cheesy saying, “Each day is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present,” right? It’s the truth. This coming year is a gift we’re being given. What will you do with it when you open it?
