Lauren Luneckas brings 12 years of corporate marketing, communications and management experience to the role

The Children’s Museum of the Upstate has named Lauren Luneckas as its new executive director. Luneckas joins TCMU with more than 12 years of marketing, communications, management, and fundraising experience in corporate and higher education settings. As executive director, Luneckas will be responsible for overseeing TCMU’s strategic and operational direction.

“Lauren is a well-respected professional who has demonstrated excellence in organizational leadership and a strong business acumen,” said Connie Jones, the museum’s board chair. “Paired with her longstanding commitment to supporting education in the Upstate – including her prior service on the TCMU board – we are confident Lauren’s experience will translate well to the museum, enabling the organization to continue to thrive, evolve, and further achieve its’ mission of supporting children and families in the Upstate community.”

Luneckas joins TCMU from Greenville-based Kentwool Performance Apparel where she most recently served as President. Her previous roles included corporate marketing and communications positions at Bridgestone Americas and Bridgestone Golf, as well as development roles in the Office of Advancement at her alma mater Wake Forest University.

A native of Georgia, Luneckas moved to Greenville in 2016. She is a graduate of Leadership Greenville and has been a passionate community volunteer in the area of early-childhood education. Luneckas has served as a classroom volunteer, PTA Board member and Library Committee member at Hollis Academy. She has supported literacy programs through Public Education Partners and school improvement projects at Monaview Elementary School.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to join the TCMU team,” said Luneckas. “The museum is a tremendous resource for Upstate residents and visitors alike, and the responsibility to continue to serve our community well is one I do not take lightly. I so admire where the museum has been and look forward with great excitement to where we will go, and what we will achieve, next.”

With locations in Greenville and Spartanburg, TCMU’s mission is to ignite a community of compassionate problem solvers through intentional and inclusive play. The museum values being an educational resource for all children and their families in the Upstate and beyond and strives to create a world where no barrier is bigger than a dream.
