After walking away as the winner of Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America,” Simpsonville resident Ari Robinson said she is still in shock.

“I can’t believe that it really happened,” she said. “I just knew I was not even going to be in the final two.”

Paired with Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli as her coach throughout the show’s seven-episode season, Robinson said the two had made peace with whatever was going to happen in the final contest. And then she won – gaining the title as most improved of the season and a $25,000 prize.

“I literally had to bend over because I thought I was going to pass out,” Robinson said.

Becoming a Food Network champion is not even the biggest change Robinson experienced this year. After filming the show in February, she and her husband, Austin, and their two sons, welcomed three more children through adoption this spring, just before the pandemic brought them all home for quarantine.

“Literally nothing is the same,” Robinson said. “We kind of some time (to adjust). By the time the show aired in June, our new babies had been here for a few months.”

Now, the family’s dinner table has also made a dramatic change from lots of fast food to fresh, homecooked vegan delights.

“Since I came back from shooting the show, the very next month we went vegan as a family,” she said. “I’ve been making a ton of vegan recipes. I’ve been trying to perfect new things. I’m going to start putting some videos out to show techniques and recipes.”

No longer a “worst cook” by any measure, Robinson will be showcasing her skills on her YouTube channel, AriFunny Comedy. And for even more fun, she and her husband have launched a podcast, Double A Shenanigans.

“We talk about vegan lifestyle, we talk about our adoption journey, being parents, marriage and just fun stuff,” she said. “It’s a way that we can connect with so many people.”

And there’s much more joy to share.

“I’ve got so many things coming for people to enjoy,” she said. “It’s going to be a really fun ride.”
