THE GRAND JETÉ Student Ballet Competition is March 21 – 22 at the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities. Ballet students ages 10 – 19 are invited to participate in South Carolina’s premier student ballet competition, Grand Jeté, presented by the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities. Young dancers will compete for cash prizes, attend master classes and receive feedback from internationally recognized dance professionals. Register by Feb. 22. S — AUDITIONS for “How I Became a Pirate” are 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and at Spartanburg Youth Theatre. Auditionees should only audition one of the two nights and may arrive at any time during the two-hour block. G — A DANCE CLASS FOR CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS is 7:15 – 7:45 p.m. Thursdays at Shock Dance Center in Mauldin. The class has free tuition and a one-time $40 payment at the beginning of the season. Students receive a T-shirt and perform in the annual shock showcase.
