Spartanburg Science Center Celebrates 40 years with free event Thursday

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Spartanburg Science Center will collaborate with ArtWalk for a free, family event 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Chapman Cultural Center.

Children will have the opportunity to explore the center and its exhibits, sketch the animal residents at the center, and create arts and crafts from nature. Adults will enjoy artwork of Carolina nature and wildlife by some of Spartanburg's talented local artists. A percentage of the proceeds from all art sales will benefit the science center and STEM educational programs. Executive Director Emeritus Mr. Green will be in attendance to celebrate this milestone event.

Other highlights of the ArtWalk event will include drawing contests for kids, raffles, light refreshments, and a gallery of local artists, including students. Forty percent of the proceeds from art sales will benefit the science center.

To support the continued efforts of the Science Center as the STEM educational partner for all seven Spartanburg school districts, donations may also be made online at
