Upper state fair kicks off Aug. 30
The Upper South Carolina State Fair aims to please new visitors and longtime guests with offerings for all ages. The fair takes place Aug. 30 – Sept. 9 at the Upper South Carolina State Fairgrounds/Greenville Pickens Speedway in Easley.
The location has updated amenities and landscaping, according to spokesman Ron Weber. Following an absence, Amusements of America returns this year with rides for all ages, including a rollercoaster. Weber said there is a big focus on rides that families can ride together.
“When small kids can ride with their parents, it makes a better experience for everyone,” he said.
New this year are a BMX/FMX Show from X Games, featuring athletes from across the country, and The Fearless Flores Family, who will bring their acts from “America's Got Talent,” including the amazing globe of death.
An old favorite returns to the fair as a demolition derby takes place Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
This year’s fair features a variety of pricing specials, including carload night Sept. 4, which includes admission and unlimited ride wristbands for up to eight people for $60. Save $10 each on ride wristbands (normally $25 each) through Aug. 29. Family Four Packs ($70 in advance, $80 during the fair) are also available and include admission and rides for two adults and two children younger than 18. Ride wristbands will be available every day. Other specials will be available. Check the website for details.
“There’s a lot new and improved,” Weber said. “We worked hard to bring in top entertainment.”
