The Center for Developmental Services (CDS) is inviting Upstate families to participate in two free summer programs at the center.

As part of its Outshine Summer Reading Program, CDS staff and volunteers will read with children to keep them academically engaged this summer. Sessions are offered at CDS at 12:30 p.m.-2 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 8. All rising first through sixth graders are encouraged to attend. Participants will receive a drawstring backpack, reading log and books.

The Greenville County Schools Food and Nutrition Services Summer Meals Program will also be held at 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Wednesdays at CDS this summer, offering free meals to all school-aged children.

Families who arrive around noon Wednesdays can take advantage of both programs, according to J Blair Stephenson, digital media specialist at CDS.

CDS is the largest multi-disciplinary treatment facility in the Upstate for children with disabilities and developmental delays. In one location, children receive services in therapy, diagnosis, legal help, day care needs for the medically fragile, and a family support network.

It is located at 29 North Academy Street, Greenville. Visit, call 864-331-1300, or email for more details.
