The 24th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast and program will be held at 8:30 a.m. at Sterling Community Center.

Sponsored by Unity Sports Soccer Club, the special event will observe the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. King.

The keynote speaker is Greenville County Councilman Ennis Fant.

The program will also feature spoken word performances by Glenis Redmond and Miriam Muriith. Redmond is the poet in residence at the Peace Center for the Performing Arts in Greenville and the State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Muriith is a freshman at Wade Hampton High School and is studying at the Fine Arts Center.

The event will also include soccer matches beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Joan & Ray Kroc Corps Community Center. Emphasis will be placed on a spirit of unity, sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for each other while promoting the principles of brotherhood, tolerance, and peace that Dr. King preached throughout his lifetime.
