Betwixt! boutique caters to Upstate tweens
Parents who have problems pleasing their young daughters when it comes to fashion purchases have a new option. Betwixt! A Tween Boutique is a local web-based clothing company owned and operated by Larkin Johnson of Greenville.
Offering only clothing for girls in sizes 6 to 16, Johnson aims to give tweens, specifically, a resource for looking good while feeling comfortable.
“What sets us apart is that we are not children,” Johnson said. “We’re not women. We’re specifically geared toward that tween and teenage audience, ages 8 to 18. We expanded our sizes recently to include juniors and misses, but I think by focusing on that specific age group as opposed to babies, children or women, we really can tap into what they want, what they’re looking for and what they’ll buy because we’re focusing on them and them only.”
Johnson, who works full-time at a local hospital, wanted a fun and creative side business, and she found it thanks to input from her 11-year-old daughter, Alex.
“We love to shop and spend time together doing that kind of thing,” she said. “We put our heads together, and we created Betwixt! because it is such an underserved demographic when it comes to cute, classy, fun, comfortable clothes. We decided to do the online route because it’s an easy way for a busy mom, who’s probably on her phone a good bit anyway, to be able to shop and find cute things for her tween.”
Johnson handles all business operations — including maintaining the website and social media, buying from vendors, and photographing clothes — but Alex helps by giving her feedback on what items will most appeal to tween girls.
Johnson said she knows from experience how convenient online shopping is for busy parents, and while she hopes to someday open a storefront, she’s focused on growing Betwixt! A Tween Boutique as an online business first.
“It’s a great bonding experience to have your daughters sit with you and pick out a few things, especially for moms and daughters who don’t love to shop together or who don’t like to sit in a dressing room bickering back and forth,” she said. “You can get your package and try it on in the comfort and privacy of your own home when your daughter is in her best mood. It makes the shopping experience easier on everybody.”
Customers can browse tops, bottoms, dresses, rompers, outerwear and shoes on the Betwixt! A Tween Boutique website at www.shopbetwixtboutique.com.
“Simply put, the ease and convenience of being able to shop right from your mobile device, right from your desktop, and it being delivered right to your front door is a great reason to shop Betwixt!” Johnson said.
