Head to Greer for some great dining options
If you are looking for somewhere new for dinner, head to Greer. Restaurant choices range from upscale to casual and offer most any kind of food you would want. Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Greenville, Greer is the perfect spot for a quiet date night. Here are some of my favorite restaurants.
Bin 112 on Trade Street describes its food as “Southeastern with a twist.” On the menu you will find Southern favorites like fried green tomatoes, collard greens and shrimp and grits. Each dish is prepared in a way that is just a little different from your typical Southern preparation. The collard greens are the best that I have ever eaten. A wide variety of seafood, steak, chicken and pork offers a little something for every palate. An extensive array of gluten free options, makes this a very friendly place for those with dietary limitations. The restaurant is open Tuesdays – Saturdays. Reservations are recommended.
Rivera’s: Chef and owner Bruce Rivera was raised around food. The son of a Miami pastry chef, Rivera discovered his passion for cooking early in life. He has cooked in kitchen’s throughout the South, but the Latin American influence from growing up in Miami is most evident on the menu. Don't miss the empanadas and sweet fried plantains. For dinner, you can’t go wrong with the Mayan Roast Pork. Rivera’s is closed Sundays and Mondays.
Della Ventura: Della Ventura is a little off the beaten path in Greer, located on Buncombe Road. It is a great place to find New York Pizza. Owner Joe Della Ventura and his son make the sauces in house using carefully guarded recipes. The crust is the perfect thin crust, with dough that is made fresh. He also offers an even thinner Staten Island-style thin and crispy crust. Della Ventura opened his first pizzeria in Staten Island in 1972 and has been in the restaurant business ever since. While the restaurant is best known for pizza, it has a full and outstanding Italian menu. The lasagna and manicotti pastas are both amazing. Save room for dessert, particularly if cannolis are on the menu.
