The cooler weather in October makes it the perfect time for a bike ride. Grab your girlfriends and head to Pedal Chic for their Spin ’n’ Sip rides at 6 p.m. Tuesdays. Begin with a relaxing one-hour ride on the Swamp Rabbit trail. Return to the shop for BYOB drinks and snacks on the patio.

No bike? No problem. Pedal Chic has special pricing for bike rentals during the evening ride.

“The ride is really about getting people in community,” said owner Robin Bylenga. “We had several couples, new to Greenville, who met on our rides that became such good friends that they bought houses in the same neighborhood.”

You don’t need to be an expert cyclist to enjoy the ride, either.

“We are very friendly to novices,” she said. “We have people on all kinds of bikes, from road bikes to comfort bikes.”

No time for an evening ride? Pedal Chic has a Mom’s Morning Out group ride at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 13.

“It is a great time for moms of preschoolers to get together and ride while the kids are in school,” Bylenga said.

According to Bylenga, Pedal Chic was the first women-specific bike shop in the country.

“I created the store concept for many reasons,” she said. “I wanted to demystify the world of cycling for every woman and provide an elegant eclectic and chic environment in which to find a bike, get a bike serviced and find the appropriate apparel. Most of all, I wanted to encourage women to ride, get their kids moving and transform lives by bike!”

You can go!
