Check out 5 perks at Greenville-Spartanburg libraries

I have been a huge fan of the public library my entire life. As someone who loves to read, it is the perfect, free place to find the newest books.

Today, the public library offers more than just books. It is a place for the community to gather for all different things. Here are five things you can do at the public library. Each library and/or branch has its own schedule, so check out the library nearest you!

Get moving. The Greenville County Library System offers meditation, tai chi and self-defense classes, and Spartanburg County Public Libraries offer yoga. The best part is that the classes are free!

Increase your computer literacy. Greenville offers classes in Microsoft Office, Internet safety and even light coding and computer assembly.

Learn something new. I was surprised at the variety of subjects covered in library classes. There are classes on gardening, finance, other cultures and even a how-to class on raising chickens!

Engage with your community. The library is a great gathering place. Most offers book clubs, knitting groups, movie groups, coloring events and craft classes.

Give kids a place to hang out. The library offers really cool classes for kids. I saw craft times, concerts, tween Minute-To-Win-It games, shaving cream fights and Lego building parties. Check them out!
