It’s apple season! What better way to enjoy the season’s treat than with an ice cold glass of hard cider.

The Upstate’s only cidery, Ciclops Cyderi and Brewery, also known as Hub City Tap House, has more than 30 ciders and craft-brewed beers on tap. Located in Spartanburg, the bar offers a relaxed environment with couches to relax, corn hole and other games outside.

Though a bit of a drive from the Upstate, Windy Hill Orchard and Cidery in York is a fun place to try new ciders. The cider bar is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. They’re participating in the 25th annual Apple Harvest Festival Oct. 20 in York. While you are there, pick a peck of apples to take home and don’t forget to try an apple cider doughnut.

The Bold Rock Mills River Cidery in Mills Rock, North Carolina, about 20 minutes from Asheville, lets you see the process behind cider production. Tours are offered Saturdays and Sundays, but the Cider Garden is open all week. Stay for lunch or dinner in the Bold Bites Mobile kitchen. They offer barbecue and your favorite southern fixins’!

Flat Rock Ciderworks in Flat Rock, North Carolina prides itself on supporting local agriculture. It grows its own apples and blackberries and sources other ingredients from Henderson County farms. The Tasting Room is open Thursdays through Sundays.

If you really love ciders, Cider Fest, Oct. 13 at the Salvage Station in Asheville is the place to find a new favorite. The festival features many North Carolina ciders, as well as favorites from across the country. Live music, arts and crafts and kids area make the event fun for the whole family.
