Make sure your child safety seat is safe
Young babies and toddlers prompt unsolicited — often conflicting — advice, much to the frustration of parents. Car seat installation and use are no exception.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides car seat safety information at www.safercar.gov/parents/index.htm. Public car seat check events appear in Upstate Parent’s calendar, but between events, contact Safe Kids Upstate for an appointment.
“To make an appointment for a free car seat inspection, call 864-454-1100 or visit www.safekidsupstate.org/free-car-seat-safety-checks,” said Ayesha Ahmad, program coordinator for Safe Kids Upstate. “Each appointment lasts approximately 30 minutes. Please keep in mind that if you have more than one child, more than one seat, and/or more than one vehicle, you will need to make separate appointments.”
