“A person’s a person, no matter how small.” — Dr. Seuss

In this issue of Upstate Parent, you’ll meet 10 extraordinary, small people doing great things. The fact that they’re children only makes their stories more noteworthy.

Each year, we accept nominations from area educators, trying to find 10 fifth-grade students who stand out from the rest. These students aren’t better than their peers; they are simply exemplary children working to make a difference in their school communities. As always, it’s incredibly difficult for our staff to select only 10 students to honor from all of the nominations we receive. But, we think we’ve selected 10 who truly embody the spirit of academic excellence, compassion and generosity.

Thank you to all of the teachers and principals who took time to nominate a student. Now, click the links below to get to know some incredible kids making a difference in their communities.

Congratulations to them all!
