Kid-friendly events for Jan. 11-13

The weekend brings some fun opportunities for families.

South Carolina International Auto Show is Jan. 11-13, and for the first time, it will feature a Kids Test Drive section in addition to popular attractions such as a PAWS Animal Wildlife Sanctuary Display. Kids can take a smaller kid-sized electric car for a test drive around an indoor track and stop by the PAWS display to learn about wildlife education rescue and rehabilitation. Hours for the Kids Test Drive section are 3-7 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and military with any DOD ID. Starry Nights is Friday at Roper Mountain Science Center. Show times are 6 and 7:30 p.m. at the T. C. Hooper Planetarium. The 6 p.m. feature will be “Legends of the Night Sky: Orion” and the 7:30 show will be “Exploding Universe.” A separate ticket is required for each show. The Daniel Observatory will also be open from 7 – 9:15 p.m., weather permitting, for viewing through the 23-inch telescope. Visit

Sensory Friendly Morning is 9 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate in Greenville and Spartanburg. Stem and Story is at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Greenville location. For details, visit

An Upstate Single Parent Resource Fair is 10 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace Church Spartanburg and The Westside Club, 501 Willis Road, Spartanburg. The event includes more than 35 Greenville and Spartanburg County resources. Admission is free. For more information, visit
