Kid-friendly events Jan. 4-6
A new year is here, and if your family is looking for a way to get out of the house this weekend, there are a handful of kid-friendly events to consider.
A free Skate, Roll and Stroll, a disability-friendly time on the big ice, is 10 a.m. – noon Friday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Volunteers from the Greater Greenville Hockey Association will be available to assist as needed. Ice walkers are free and available first come, first served. Participants are encouraged to bring their own sleds, wagons and helmets. Ice skates will be provided. This event is free of charge and offers free parking in the VIP lot off of Church Street. Free ADA parking is available in the loading dock parking lot located at 650 N. Academy St. Visit www.bonsecours arena.com.
Skating on the Big Ice is at 1 p.m. Friday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The cost is $8 each for ages 7 and older and $6 each for ages 6 and younger. Skate rental is $3 each. Bring 5 canned goods or a case of water to be donated to Loaves and Fishes and Habitat for Humanity and receive a free skate rental. Visit www.bonsecoursarena.com.
Stop by First Fridays at the Greenville Center for Creative Arts 6-9 p.m. Friday. Guests can view exhibitions in the main and community galleries, visit studio artists to buy local art and register for a class or workshop. All About Eggs is Saturday at the Greenville Zoo. This Zoo Tots program is for ages 2 – 4 with a guardian, and registration is required. Investigate different kinds of eggs from the animal world. To register, visit www.greenvillezoo.com.
Family Fun Day is 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday at the Upcountry History Museum. Celebrate with dinosaurs and Snoopy. Visit www.upcountryhistory.org.
It’s Nickelodeon Night at the Greenville Swamp Rabbits game 7 p.m. Saturday. “Rocket Power” will be the theme of the night, and the event will include a special jersey giveaway.
