Honoring Emma Wood, Boiling Springs Intermediate School
Emma Wood bubbles over with happiness.
“She is constantly laughing,” her mother, Shana Wood, said. “She makes anything fun. She is just a joy.”
Emma is devoted to her family, including her father, Dean, and her older sister, Hannah. She is very active in her church and is looking forward to moving up to the middle school youth group where she can be involved in local community service projects.
In addition to playing lacrosse, Emma is part of Girls on the Run.
“It’s more than just a running club,” Shana Wood said. “They build each other up.”
Victoria Powell, Emma’s teacher at Boiling Springs Intermediate School, said Emma comes to school with a smile and soon has others smiling as well.
“Emma goes above and beyond every day in all aspects of being a student and a leader among her peers,” Powell said. “Although she is athletic and involved in activities outside of school, her ability to prioritize and put first things first has resulted in phenomenal academic performance. She never hesitates to help others in need, often times without being asked. She is a well-rounded, thoughtful young lady who sets a great example for others to follow on a daily basis. What sets Emma apart from others around her is the fact that she always does what she knows is the right thing to do, even when she does not realize that others are watching. In my opinion, this makes her an individual that others admire and are proud to know.”
