It is almost Father’s Day! While presents are always well received, what most dads really want is a little time with their favorite people — you and the kids! We have five suggestions for Father’s Day — which is June 19 — outings.

For the adventurous dad: Try the zip line at The Gorge in Saluda, North Carolina. The Gorge offers 11 zip lines spanning 1.25 miles. With a descent of 1,100 vertical feet, the Gorge is sure to please that thrill-seeking dad! Go to www.greenriveradventures.com for more information.

For the foodie: Take cooking classes at Plate 108 in Greer, which offers a variety of cooking classes each month. Among the most popular are the sushi class and the make-your-own pasta classes. Go to www.plate108.com

For the outdoorsman: We are fortunate to have many beautiful trails for hiking! My favorite is Dupont Forest. Located between Hendersonville and Brevard, North Carolina, the forest is a close drive for Upstate residents

For the sports fan: Give him tickets to a Greenville Drive game. The June 24th game against the Lakewood BlueClaws features Friday Night Fireworks. You can find a team schedule at www.greenvilledrive.milb.com.

For the theater lover: The Upstate Shakespeare Festival will perform “As You Like It” Thursdays – Sundays May 25 – June 19 in Greenville’s Falls Park. Performances are free.
