FREE! FREE FOREST SCHOOL a free, volunteer-run, inclusive group for families looking for ways to connect with other local families in nature. APPLICATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED for The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, a public, residential high school for artistically-talented students, for the 2019 – 2020 school year and summer programs. All South Carolina residents in grades 6 – 11 are eligible to apply online. The school offers pre-professional training in creative writing, dance, drama, music and visual arts. In the tuition-free residential high school program, students explore and refine their talents in a one-of-a-kind, master-apprentice community while receiving a nationally recognized high school education. The final application deadline for the residential high school is Jan. 4, 2019. All applications received by Nov. 30, 2018 will have the $50 application fee waived. Three summer programs are available: Arts Odyssey, for rising grades 8 – 9; Academy, for rising grade 10; and Summer Dance, for rising grade 7 – 12. For details, visit https://www.scgsah.org.
