As we inch closer to Halloween, the community is kicking off holiday-themed events, including Boo in the Zoo.

See firefighters and fire trucks at 10 a.m. Friday at the Taylors Branch Library. This free event is great for ages 5 and younger. Visit www.greenvillelibrary.org for more details.

“The Ugly Duckling” is presented by Lightwire Theater at 7 p.m. Friday at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at Clemson University. Tickets are $15 each for adults and $10 each for students. Anderson School District One will host a Trunk or Treat and Resource Fair 5-8 p.m. Friday at Palmetto High School. Free candy, $5 snow cones, ice cream and boiled peanuts, and a mammogram mobile will be on site.

Boo in the Zoo is 5:30 – 8 p.m. Friday, 4-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Greenville Zoo. In addition to trick-or-treating, fun-filled booths and Dragon Alley, this year’s event will feature the new Alice’s Fun House. Pumpkin Fest at Silvermont Park continues 7 – 9 p.m. Friday —Saturday in Brevard, North Carolina. This event includes a display of lighted, carved pumpkins in multiple scenes along a half-mile, accessible trail, food trucks, music, a scavenger hunt, storytelling, games and more.
