It will be another busy weekend in the Upstate for families willing to get out and enjoy fall activities.

“Community Workshop: Bats” is at 6 p.m. Friday at the Greenville Zoo. This program is for families with children ages 6 and older. Learn about bats and build a bat box to take home. To register, visit www.greenvillezoo.com.

U.Day, short for University Day, is 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday at Bob Jones University. The free event includes an educational street fair, bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals, prize drawings, music (including a Patch the Pirate concert) and hands-on activities designed for all age groups. Paddlesplash Races are at 9 a.m. Saturday at Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee. All self-powered watercraft are invited, including kayaks, surfskis, canoes, paddleboards and rowers. Kayaks and SUPs will be available to rent but must be reserved in advance. Both a 3-mile and a 6-mile loop course will be offered. Fall for Greenville is Friday through Sunday in downtown Greenville. One of the largest free food and musical festivals in the Southeast, the event showcases more than 40 restaurants and 60 musical acts on five stages, as well as family entertainment and a children’s area. Saturday is Star Wars Day at Roper Mountain Science Center. From 9 a.m.-3 p.m., this Second Saturday event will allow visitors to explore Star Wars-inspired learning activities, browse a book fair, watch an interactive stage show and meet costumed characters. Fall Festival 2018 at Safe Haven & Educational Adventures Inc. is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. The exotic animal sanctuary near Easley is only open to the public twice a year, and this free event allows families to see animals such as wolves, alligators and monkeys up close. Pickens County Humane Society will host a Fall Festival 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. There will be live music, food, bouncy houses, games, a costume contest for children 13 and younger, face painting and a dunk tank. Decorate pumpkins and enter a coloring contest. Pumpkin Fest at Silvermont Park is 7 – 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Brevard, NC. This event includes a display of lighted, carved pumpkins in multiple scenes along a half-mile, accessible trail, food trucks, music, a scavenger hunt, storytelling, games and more.
