Countdown to kindergarten, consignment sale lead events

Head to the Greenville Zoo Friday for some fun and education. Celebrate World Lion Day 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday at the zoo. World Lion Day is the first global campaign to celebrate the importance of the lion worldwide. My Greenville Zoo Day is also 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the zoo. The Children’s Museum of the Upstate’s free annual event Countdown to Kindergarten is 6-8 p.m. Friday at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. The event is for rising K5 students and their families. Visitors will get access to Greenville community resources that support children. Children can carry their own lunch tray and learn lunchroom etiquette, visit a mock kindergarten classroom and more. Starry Nights is Friday at Roper Mountain Science Center. Show times are 6 and 7:30 p.m. at the T. C. Hooper Planetarium. The Daniel Observatory will also be open from 6:45 – 9:45 p.m., weather permitting, for viewing through the 23-inch telescope. Visit www.ropermountain.org.

Greenville’s fall and winter Switch-A-Roos Consignment sale is Aug. 10-12 at the TD Convention Center. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
