August is officially here, and there's a lot for families to do to usher in a new month this weekend.
It's not long before school starts back, and families should take advantage of the tax-free holiday this weekend. Friday through Sunday, you'll find a variety of tax-exempt items, including clothing, shoes, school supplies and computers. Starry Nights is Friday at Roper Mountain Science Center. Show times are 6 and 7:30 p.m. at the T. C. Hooper Planetarium. The Daniel Observatory will also be open from 6:45 – 9:45 p.m., weather permitting, for viewing through the 23-inch telescope. Visit www.ropermountain.org.
