It’s bound to be another hot weekend in the Upstate, but there are still several opportunities to get outdoors.

The free Chautauqua Festival: a Harriet Tubman talk is at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday at the Upcountry History Museum, Clara Barton is at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Centre Stage, Francis Marion is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Greenville Technical College, Winston Churchill is at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pelzer Auditorium, Alice Paul is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenville Technical College, Clara Barton is at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenville Technical College’s TRC Auditorium and Harriet Tubman is at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Greenville Technical College. If you haven't been to a Greenville Drive game lately, this Friday sounds like fun. Two T-45 jets from the United States Navy will fly over Fluor Field during the pregame ceremonies. First pitch against the Asheville Tourists is at 7:05 p.m., and the musical theme for the post-game fireworks display is Harry Potter. Bring your favorite teddy bear and join us for a fun and informative hike through the park during Teddy Bear Picnic 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m Saturday. Families will learn what different animals use for food, water and shelter in the park. Participants will get to build a personalized habitat for their bears. For ages 4-10 accompanied by adults. Paris Mountain State Park will hold a program on amphibians at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by a lessons from nature hike at 1 p.m. Hidden Biodiversity: Finding Frogs and Salamanders All Around Us will be led by Dr. Melissa Pilgrim of USC Upstate. Meet in the Park Center. No registration is required and there is no cost for this 2 hour program beyond park admission. At 1 p.m., take a hike on the Turtle Trail with Ranger Cathy Taylor, learning lessons from nature on how to adapt to conditions. Follow the sunlight. Branch out. Enjoy the wonders of nature and let nature be your teacher on this easy to moderate 1 1/2 mile, 1 1/2 hour hike. Meet at Park Center. Cost is $7 per person, but admission will be waived.
