Spend this summer enjoying the water without ever leaving Greenville County. Greenville County Rec’s three waterparks, Discovery Island, Otter Creek and 7th Inning Splash, are now open on weekends and will open for daily use beginning June 7.

Beth Scheimann with Greenville County Parks, Recreation and Tourism’s Special Use Facilities said families will find all sorts of activities to keep kids active this summer, including swim lessons beginning June 11 at Otter Creek and Discovery Island, as well as at the indoor Greenville County Aquatic Complex.

“We offer swim lessons Monday through Thursday,” she said. “A session is a two-week block.”

For the youngest visitors, Otter Creek and 7th Inning Splash offer splash pads, while Discovery Island offers zero-depth beach entry and a play structure. Cabanas are available for rent at Discovery Island and Otter Creek, which Scheimann said are ideal for families with young children who need a spot in the shade. She points to rising gas prices as one reason families might consider have a staycation this summer. Spending time at the waterparks gives them a chance for budget-friendly fun. A season pass can extend the fun with prices ranging from $59 – $89 per person. Greenville County’s Rec ‘N Crew pass ($149 per person) includes 12-month admission to ice skating and the bounce house at the Pavilion, in addition to waterpark admission.
