Plays, Maker Fest highlight weekend fun

There are a variety of fun ways to get out and have fun this weekend with the family.

Maker Fest is 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. Explore creativity with guest makers from all over the Upstate at stations and workshops around the museum, including 3D printing and mixed media art. The event is free with admission. Visit

Family Workshop: Prehistoric Parents is at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Greenville Zoo. This program is for families with children ages 6 and older. Find and excavate fossils, hatch a dinosaur egg and meet an animal who is a dino-cousin. To register, visit

The Cardboard Regatta presented by Pratt Industries will be held 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Greenville County Aquatic Complex. Build a boat out of cardboard with friends, family or co-workers to race in a pool for prizes. Registration to participate costs $15 for Scouts/schools/family boats. Register online at
