Here's a listing of free and affordable summer movies showing throughout the Upstate this summer. Remember to bring lawn chairs or blankets to movies in the park showings.

Drive-In Movies at The Shops at Greenridge

Movies will be shown near Dick’s Sporting Goods at The Shops at Greenridge on Woodruff Road in Greenville beginning at dusk on these days. Children are invited to participate in special events for the family-friendly shows. For details, visit www.shopgreenridge.com.

  • June 11 – “The Peanuts Movie”: Kids can take their photos with Snoopy.
  • June 25 – “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”: Kids are invited to dress as their favorite Star Wars character. Free glow sticks will be given to those who prove an Instagram post with #shopsatgreenridgemovies.
  • July 9 – To be announced: The movie will be chosen from Facebook votes. Everyone who votes will get a free popcorn.
  • July 23 – “The Good Dinosaur”: This Dad’s Night movie will feature games such as bean toss and giveaways. Free candy will be given to those who prove an Instagram post with #shopsatgreenridgemovies.
  • Aug. 13 – “Inside Out”: Kids can enjoy face painting.
  • Aug. 27 – “Zootopia”: Children who wear their favorite animal costume or pajamas and post photos to Instagram with #shopsatgreenridge will get free candy.
  • Sept. 10 – To be announced: The movie will be chosen from Facebook votes. Everyone who votes will get a free popcorn.
  • Oct. 22 – “Hotel Transyvannia 2”: Children can wear costumes and trick or treat with merchants from 4 – 6 p.m.

Movies at Heritage Park

The annual Movies at Heritage Park series features family-friendly movies being shown on a big screen at the Charter Spectrum Amphitheater in Heritage Park, Simpsonville. There will also be inflatables for children to enjoy before the movie begins at dusk. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Concessions will be available for a charge but you’re also allowed to bring your own snacks. For details, visit charterspectrumamphitheatre.com

Movies at Greer City Park

The Moonlight Movies series is free and fun for families. Preshow activities include free inflatables, line dancing and a chance to win door prizes. Movies start at dusk every Thursday night during the summer. Concessions will be available for purchase. Sensory-friendly movies are shown without previews, with lower sound, and the lights are not as dim for guests with sensitivity disorders. The audience can also talk, shout, cry, dance, scream and run around the theater during these movies.

Regal Hollywood Stadium 20 & RPX in Greenville shows sensory-friendly movies at 10:30 a.m. on select dates. Tickets are $6.50.
