There are lots of holiday activities and events opening soon in the Upstate. Here are a few to put on your calendars:

► Shadrack's Christmas Wonderland at Heritage Park held its official opening Nov. 20. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland is a drive-thru Christmas light and music show featuring lights synchronized to holiday music. Santa's Village includes pictures with Santa, food vendors, rides, a petting zoo and more. Christmas Wonderland is open every night through Jan. 3. Admission is $25 per car or family van, $40 for activity vans or mini buses, and $80 for tours and school buses. For details, visit

Upstate Holiday Light Show will open 5:30 p.m.-midnight, Nov. 26 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, 3800 Calhoun Memorial Highway, Easley. Cost is $20 per car, and the display will be open through Jan. 3. The speedway will be decked out in holiday splendor; in addition to lights, there’s a petting zoo and Santa’s Workshop. ► Roper Mountain Holiday Lights opens 6-10 p.m. Thanksgiving night and remains open through Dec. 30. Start your visit by parking the car and strolling through Winter Wonderland, where you’ll find lighted walking trails, Santa Claus, a balloon artist, concessions and giant holiday greeting cards created by local area students. Then enjoy a 1.5 mile drive through the large displays including Candy Cane Lane, Santa’s Sleigh, the Caterpillar, and many other family favorites. Cost is $10-$15 per car; a $25 pass, good for three visits, is also available.

► The Christmas Gift Lights Festival opens at 5:30 p.m. Thanksgiving and continues each evening through Christmas at the Anderson Civic Center. Admission is $10 per carload. For details, visit
