Has your little one outgrown his current car seat and now needs a bigger-sized one?

Target stores are offering parents a chance to trade in their infant and toddler car seat for a new, discounted one through April 30.

Bring in a used car seat, drop it in a bin located either in the baby section or near the front of the store, and then find a Target team member to receive a coupon for 20 percent off any car seat purchase in store or at Target.com through May 31.

The recycled car seats will be turned into new products by recycling company TerryCycle, which is co-sponsoring the event.

The Target website also offers parents a primer on how to safely install new car seats in their vehicles.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, car seats that are no longer being used should be recycled rather than sold or gifted to someone else. Parents who accept used car seats risk failing to receive recall notices, using outdated equipment, or damaged equipment.
