Bambino — a mobile app that modernizes the way parents find, book and pay trusted local sitters — launched its service in Greenville earlier this year, and now Spartanburg parents can now benefit from the service, too.

Kristi Hoffmaster, a mother of five, is the community manager for Bambino’s Spartanburg service, and she’s raising awareness that the resource exists for families in the Hub City.

“I heard about the app and wanted to get involved,” she said. “Spartanburg is really ripe for usage of this app. Spartanburg is a family-oriented town, and it’s growing. There’s certainly a need for a network of reliable, trustworthy sitters.”

Users download the Bambino app for free through their app store, allowing them to search for babysitters that have been recommended by their friends. Each babysitter is rated after each job, and their profiles list their rate per hour. Users contact the babysitter through the app to arrange appointments, usually receiving a reply within hours.

The app is a great resource for parents who need last-minute sitters, Hoffmaster said. Users can see which sitters other users in Spartanburg have used and recommend, and with the touch of a button, find out if that sitter is available.

“We all have our go-tos for babysitting, and we want to share that with each other,” Hoffmaster said. “The app is a way to share your trusted sitters with other parents in Spartanburg.”

Bambino is always in need of babysitters to join the network, she added.

“We have a big community of colleges and schools, and those students can make great babysitters,” she said.

To participate in the service, all babysitters must be recommended by a local parent. There are no hidden fees to use the app as either a parent or sitter.

A key feature of the app is that it allows parents to directly pay the babysitter through the app after a job is complete. In addition, users receive reminders and alerts from the app.

As a busy mom of five children in daycare through middle school, Hoffmaster said the app is extremely easy to use and takes a lot of stress out of finding childcare when parents need a time out from their kids.

“Once you’re set up in the app, it can be a lifesaver,” she said. “When you need last-minute help, you can find that help very quickly.”

The Bambino app launched in 2016 in Los Angeles before expanding to 30 additional communities across the country in March.

“This is a relatively new app, but it has a dedicated foundation of people constantly trying to make it better,” Hoffmaster said. “Suggestions and questions are always welcome.”
