Little heroes will rule Halloween this year.

More than 3.7 million children plan to dress as an action character or superhero for Halloween this year, according to National Retail Federation data released Thursday. Batman wasn't counted in that number, swooping in at No. 2 with 2.9 million electing to dress as the Dark Knight.

But, not everyone wants to be a hero this year. The NRF reports 2.9 million children will dress as princesses and 2.2 million will dress as an animal.
