Sesame Street's newest monster aims to teach children about siblings, blended families and conflict resolution, according to Sesame Workshop.
Rudy, Abby Cadabby’s stepbrother, debuted on Sesame Street last weekend meeting his new family and Elmo.
The bright orange monster with blue curls just moved in and is learning how he fits in. Viewers will see Rudy overcome obstacles and forge new friendships. As seen in a clip on Facebook, Rudy ran into trouble after borrowing Abby's magic wand.
"Families come in many forms – including newly-blended families, which can present unique challenges for kids," Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, said in a statement. "As part of Sesame Street’s kindness curriculum, kids will watch as Abby and Rudy meet for the first time, get to know each other, and overcome their differences to embrace their new sibling relationship."
In March, Sesame Street introduced Julia, a muppet who has autism.
