I love supporting local craftspeople. There are so many people around Greenville and Spartanburg who make and sell really cool things, but it isn't always easy to find local makers. Vintage Warehouse in Spartanburg is a great place to see a lot of local vendors in one place.

The store, which really is housed in an old warehouse, is 20,000 square feet and home to around 65 local vendors. Walking through, you get a feel of an artisan fair, with the convenience of centralized checkout. Treasures you can find include vintage and industrial furniture, clothing and accessories, repurposed hand-painted furniture, artisan home decor and handcrafted items from local artists.

“We like to showcase people who do their own thing or go out and find something and make it totally different,” said co-owner Jane Crook.

Some of the really cool things I saw during my visit to the store were hand-painted Christmas ornaments, wood crafts, paintings, homemade soaps and lotions, handmade copper jewelry and metal art. There was a vendor who specialized in upholstery, and a section of the store to buy chalk paint so that you can begin your own creative projects.

Some of the vendors even hold classes to help others learn creative arts. There is a green section in the warehouse with succulents, fig trees, cactuses and many other plants. This month the store will have amaryllis, poinsettias and norfolk pine trees.

One tip: go often. The selection can change on a daily basis.

“With so many vendors, someone brings in something new every day,” said Crook.

The Vintage Warehouse is open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Tuesdays – Saturdays and 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Sundays. It is located at 1201 B Union St., Spartanburg. The Holiday Open House is Dec. 9 and will feature live demonstrations, along with a customer appreciation reception from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
