I love to look through new cookbooks, but I have to admit that I don't often follow through and actually prepare dishes from the books.

The Cookbook Club at Fiction Addiction is a great opportunity to try out a new cookbook without having to prepare every recipe yourself. At the meeting, each club member prepares a different dish to share with the group from a cookbook chosen in advance.

After sampling the dishes, club members talk about their experience preparing their dishes.

“We talk about whether the recipes have any mistakes in them, and if ingredients are easy to find.” said Jill Hendrix, owner of Fiction Addiction.

The group cooks from the same book for three months.

“You really get a good sense of the book,” Hendrix said.

You also get to sample a lot of delicious food.

The club meets at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month at Fiction Addiction, located at 1175 Woods Crossing Road, Greenville. Prospective members can come as a guest the first month, without preparing a dish, but the store does ask that you call ahead to let them know that you are coming.

If you choose to join, Fiction Addiction asks that you purchase the cookbook from their store. The group is cooking from The Complete Mediterranean Cookbook in June.
